Pricing Engine
If you go to an aviation industry trade show and talk about building a computer system that accurately calculates the cost of operating or parking any aircraft at any airport in the world, people talk about it as if you were describing the building of a magical kingdom.
We know, because we’ve done that. And then we built it.
There are some real complexities involved in making this happen, which is why so many people have tried - and before now, failed.
First there is the fragmentation of what airfields and handling agents actually charge for. Landing fees, takeoff fees, parking, noise and emissions fees, Terminal Navigation/ATC charges, hangarage and de-icing fees, passenger and cargo fees, fire service and “out-of-hour” fees all take time to understand in their own right.
Then there’s the fact that no two airfields charge any of these fees in quite the same way. Some care about an aircraft’s maximum weight, some care about its engine types and noise certificates. Others will charge for parking based on wingspan or area, and the times that airfield operations start and end - and pricing brackets changing during the day are common. You can see how it can quickly become a case of information overload.
It’s a maddening problem, and takes care and attention to detail to get right.
Over the course of several years however, the solution has emerged. Not only is our pricing engine accurate, it’s also fast - it can solve the complex calculations involving all of those moving parts in just tenths of a second.
The pricing engine is where the innovation at Stratajet started. But it’s definitely not the end. Read more about our technology by using the links to the left.
