Empty Legs
Greater efficiency for greater value

40% of all private charter flights in Europe are flown with no passengers on board. Often known as empty or dead legs, these are usually considered a necessary evil or an inevitable by-product of private aviation. This does not need to be the case, but fixing the status quo requires a different approach.

Until now empty legs are considered to be fixed in time and space, a flight that must be flown between two points, and thus there is no flexibility in how they can be sold. Firstly it is rare that any one wants to fly between the two pre-set locations at a specific time; and secondly a fragmented industry lacking in communication channels means empty leg websites, though abundant, are ineffectual. As a result, very few empty legs are sold, and we throw away over a third of what we produce.

As with most things here at Stratajet, we approach the issue of empty legs differently. For the first time ever, we are able to consider all of these existing empty legs every time a flight request is made through Stratajet. We can cross check schedules to see if there is an aircraft flying in roughly the right direction. And since we know all real-time prices too, we can instantly calculate the most efficient way for us to complete your trip.

Our use of empty legs means we can deliver the best value to our customers.

Savings are not only made by our customers, but also by our partner operators. We can maximise the efficiency of our operators’ aircraft and schedules, increase utilisation and reduce the considerable waste of resources.
