Jet off for some tennis at this April’s Monte-Carlo Open

This Easter the Monte-Carlo Country Club will again host the Rolex Masters, running from April 15th to 23rd. All eyes will be on tennis’ greatest male players as 56 come together to compete in the 111th tournament to vie for the €3.7 million prize money.

The action, held on outdoor clay, will take place in Roquebrune Cap Martin, just over the border in France. The spectacle of the show will be very Monte Carlo, with many a fan and perhaps player sporting the latest from the sponsor’s range.

This year Roger Federer and Kei Nishikori are the only top 10 ranking players not to be joining their peers, and apart from the prize money involved there will also be ATP points at stake too – with Monte-Carlo forming part of the Masters 1000 series with more points only able to be won from the 4 grand slams and ATP tour finals.

Nadal, last year’s singles winner, goes in behind Murray in the tournament seedings but fans have been watching his performance in Miami to see whether he can add to his Monte-Carlo Open wins – where between 2005-2012 he notched up a record-breaking 8 consecutive victories.

Set on the stunning Mediterranean coast between Monaco and the chic Cap Martin peninsula fans will flock to make the most of the beautiful coast, just as the weather starts to heat up and the season begins.

It remains to be seen whether Nadal can keep his form up enough to come back to repeat his former glory, or whether, like in Miami with Italy’s 40th ranked Fabio Fognini, a wild card or non seed will make their mark.
