The beautiful St. Simon’s Island, the largest of the Golden Isles along Georgia’s southern Atlantic coast, is a picture-perfect destination for anyone who wants to appreciate breathtaking views and get up close to nature.

Miles of untouched beaches are just one draw on this 18 square mile island, which also boasts some stunning places to stay, a range of activities to restore and revitalise all the senses, historic landmarks, and of course Southern charm.
The gorgeous beach sunset on St Simon’s Island
Served by Malcolm McKinnon Airport, access to this stunning island is surprisingly easy, though for years visitors relied on boats that docked on the south shore to make the most of the idyllic setting. Halfway between Savannah and Jacksonville, The Island, as the locals call it, offers a calm enclave away from these bustling hubs and apart from the warm weather the coastline is perfect for horseback riding, cycling or just walking to take in the views.
As you’d expect there is much to do on the water too – from surfing to parasailing. The water itself is ripe for fishing, so if you are a keen angler make sure to charter a boat to try and catch a game fish, or venture offshore where the Gulfstream waters present the opportunity to go for tuna, marlin and other trophy fish.
